Kent and Sussex Courier, 30 August 1878.

THE ALBION HOTEL.

At the Tonbridge Petty Sessions, on Tuesday, Mr. Davis, the landlord, applied for a renewal of his license, when Supt. Kewell said that about a month ago Messrs. Jude and Co., brewers, of Wateringbury, who held a bill of sale on Mr. Davis's, the landlord, effects, had entered into possession. Since then they had been selling the spirits and the beer at the bar of the house, and Mr. Davis had opened one of the back rooms for the sale of spirits and beer. It appeared to him that Messrs. Jude were selling without a license.

The magistrates adjourned the renewal of the license till the adjourned licensing meeting on the 24th September.
Mr. Davis the landlord, asked whether he could go on selling on his old license.

The Chairman said he could sell, but they had nothing to do with the other party.

Mr. Davis said the moment Messrs. Jude took possession he wrote to Mr. Anderson, the supervisor, stating that he had forbidden them to sell under his license.

The Chairman said they had nothing to do with that.

From the Kent and Sussex Courier, 7 February, 1908

Supt. Styles in his annual report to the licensing justices, said the licensees had generally conducted their houses in a satisfactory manner, with the following exceptions: .... George Gardiner, "Albion Inn," Hadlow; selling adulterated rum; ....
