The "Angel" at Addington was a hostelry as long ago as 1350, being strategically situated near the Pilgrim's Way to Canterbury. Has also been address as being in West Malling.

Kentish Gazette 13 October 1846.

DEATH. CAPON.

Sept. 29, aged 85, Mr. Thomas Capon, of the "Angel Inn," Addington.

From the Maidstone Telegraph, Rochester and Chatham Gazette, 21 September 1861.

Addington.

On the same day Mrs. John Wingfield Stratford, of Addington Place, gave a grand treat to all the poor people in the parish, at the "Angel Inn," to commemorate the marriage of her brother Sir John Guise, Bart. which took place that day in Ireland. They were regaled with the old English fair of roast beef and plum pudding, and enjoyed themselves very much. We so frequently hear of the charitable acts of this lady and of her kindness to the poor that we hope her life may be spared many years.
