The pub was situated at the bottom of Pier Road, Rosherville, and traded from between 1861 and 1914 that I know of. However further information says it was trading as early as 1849.

Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

All emails are answered.

From the Maidstone Journal and Kentish Advertiser, Monday 6 June 1870.

Coroner's inquest.

On the evening of Tuesday, May 31st, and inquest was held at the "British Tar," Rosherville, before T. Winch, Esq., deputy coroner for the district, touching the death of Henry Street, a child of 3½ years. It appears that the parents of the child live near the river, and on the 4th of May the deceased was missed. Bills were issued offering a reward for the discovery of the child, but no information was obtained respecting the poor little fellow until Monday, May 30th, when his body was found by a waterman, floating on the river above Rosherville Pier.

The jury returned a verdict of "Found drowned."
