APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSEES.

Mr. J. Bassett was refused a license for the "Britton Farm" beer-house, New Brompton. Mr. Hayward opposed.

From an email received from David Perman, 27 November 2015.

On 21 November 1885 Harriet's husband George died in New Brompton, Kent. (England & Wales Death Index, District Medway, Vol 2a, Page 328). The England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations) 1858-1966 has the following record. WALTER George 23 December. Administration of the Personal Estate of George Walter late of the “Britton Farm” Inn New Brompton in the County of Kent Beer Retailer who died 21 November 1885 at the said Inn was granted at the Principle Registry to Harriet Walter of the said Inn Widow the Relict. Personal Estate £86.

Ind Coope & Co Ltd purchased the pub from Budden & Biggs Brewery Ltd by conveyance and assignment dated 23 March 1931. The pub held a beer only license. At the same time they also purchased two cottages, 10 and 12 Skinner Street.

I believe the premises is now (2018) being operated as a Papa's fish and chip shop.
