This had the address of number 1 Church Street till 1930. The pub can be traced to 1863 but closed in about 2009 and was converted into flats and is known as Clarendon House. Being situated next to the livestock pound, the locals use to ask the question "Where is beer sold by the pound?" Ind Coope & Co Ltd purchased the pub from Budden & Biggs Brewery Ltd by conveyance and assignment dated 23 March 1931. The pub held a full license. James Bridges father was the licensee of the "Horse Shoe" in Strood, 20 years previous.
I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from. All emails are answered.
