Above sign 2018.

The original pub was built in the early 1850’s opening in 1855. This burnt down in the late 1890’s and was rebuilt and reopened in 1891 (hence the sign).

Originally a Leneys of Wateringbury pub. Leneys were licences to sell beer at the 1851 Great Exhibition at THE Crystal Palace, so I assume that may have been the link.

Since closure, date as yet unknown, the building has been used both as a bridal store and then after 2001 a fireplace store.

Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

All emails are answered.
