Situated in Station Road near the railway station and opened in 1899. In 1927 it was said to be the most modern and best appointed hotel in Herne Bay.

During the 38-45 war the hotel was used by the military and covered the rooms with graffiti.

The hotel continued till the early 1960s when it closed and it became St. Mary's College used by the French students as a base to improve their English.

After that it was converted into luxury apartments and changed name to St. Mary's Court.

Next door to the building the "Heron" was built in 1965 to replace the license and to serve the public with refreshment.
