The "Hop and Vine" was part of a Whitbread Fremlins concept of creating up market wine/cask ale bars. Interiors were very much bare, sawn timber with a cooled back fitting with about 6 different cask ales dispensing directly from the cask. The pub one also had a large wine fridge in the back counter with an over engineered dispense system designed to top the opened bottles up with nitrogen to prevent oxidation. Rainham Mark, upmarket are not words that seem to go together - I can only think they were trying to attract executives etc from the Industrial estates.

After Green King had lost interest in the pub, it was sold to London based development company Zaan and has now been sold and converted into yet another Pizza Hut.

Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

All emails are answered.
