At the Maidstone Petty sessions, on Saturday last, before the Mayor, (J. Chitford Esq.), and G. Wickham, and J. B. Green, Esqrs, Ann Pluck, landlady of the "Hope and Anchor" public house, Union Street, was summoned for permitting drunkenness on her licensed premises at 1 o'clock in the morning of Sunday, 2nd August. They obtained admittance, and found inside the bar three men, drunk, and the landlady, who, then informed that the case would be reported, asserted that she could do what she liked in her own house. The man found in the house were stated to be lodges. The magistrates inflicted a penalty of 40s, costs 10s, in default 1 month's hard labour.
