Information below by Ben Levick

The "Livingstone Arms" was one of the last 19th century pubs to open in Gillingham. The first licensee was Thomas Hibbard who was granted a provisional licence for the premises on 23rd August 1895 (confirmed 17th October 1895) with the final order on 1st May 1896. It almost certainly took its name from its situation of Livingstone Road. In more recent years it has become the unofficial 'away' fans pub when Gillingham FC are playing at home at the nearby Priestfields Stadium.

Still open in 2011 but by 2016 it has closed and was converted into a McDoody's American Diner. Date of closure unknown.

Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

All emails are answered.

Steve Morskyj remembers that football days in the early 1970s could be busy, especially when Millwall visited. To be fair it was busy and rowdy but I don’t remember any major issues. Odd layout of a pub as it had a lounge bar on the corner of Livingstone road, an off licence section and a public bar.
