From the Kentish Gazette, 4 April 1865.

Peter Young, beer retailer, Sheerness, (as yet name of establishment unknown) were brought up in custody charged with having threatened to knock out the brains of Isaac Mason Coody, a victualler, of Sheerness. The complainant was re-sworn to his information, but the prisoner was discharged, it having transpired that the complainant was cohabiting with the wife of the prisoner.

 

From a local paper in February 1917.

Ambrose Letley, who was given as the landlord of the "Mitre," was fined £10 for selling a half pint of rum to a sailor, in breech of the wartime regulations. The chairman of the bench remarked, when asked, that this conviction would not affect his licence.
