The "Napier Arms" is named for Lord Napier (1810-90) who served in the Indian Mutiny and Chinese Wars. The pub is first recorded in 1858, but may be older. There is a large hall attached that was used for functions. In 1875 the Old and New Brompton Orange Lodges celebrated Orange Monday here. Another historic event here was when the directors and shareholders of The New Brompton Football Club Co Ltd, (who were nothing if not ambitious) called a meeting at the "Napier Arms" on Friday May 11th 1894, within a year of formation, and took the decision to turn professional.

Ind Coope & Co Ltd purchased the pub from Budden & Biggs Brewery Ltd by conveyance and assignment dated 23 March 1931. The pub held a full license.

This pub is one in the list of my "Project 2014."

As such I have found a picture of the pub, but to date have no other information. Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

All emails are answered.
