The census of 1861 refers to this pub as the "Sheppey Rifleman" so perhaps Samuel Sansom was a rifleman before taking on the license of this pub at the young age of 17.

I have also seen this given the address of Minster.

Unfortunately the pub was demolished in the 1960s.
