Phoenix location 2016

Above Google image, June 2016, showing the location of the former "Phoenix."

Situated north of the town centre alongside the River Darent in an area formerly known as Waterside. In 1835 it was operating as a beer house obviously opened shortly after the beer act of 1830. The building itself could well be 18th century, but renovated in Victorian times.

It has been a tied house by local Miskin and Kidd's breweries, and late in the 20th century as a Courage tied house after a succession of takeovers.

Looks like it was running as a gay bar in 2004 if the flag in the window has anything to go by, but I could be wrong on that. Subsequent photos in 2008, show it to be supporting England, probably for the world cup, and the Confederate Flag of America is shown flying in 2010

The pub closed in 2010 to reopen again for a short time and then close for good in 2011. It has now (2016) been demolished.

See Dartford Map 1905.
