The "Prince Alfred" honours Victoria's second son, known to his immediate family as ‘Affie'. He became Duke of Edinburgh and, later of Saxe-Cobourg.

Some time during the 1990's the pub changed name to the "Dog and Bone."

Mr. R. Prall, jun., applied for a license for the "Prince Alfred," New Brompton.

Refused.

 

Chatham News, Saturday 27 August 1870.

Mr. R. Prall applied for a licence for the "Prince Alfred."

Mr. G. Winch opposed, and said in consequence of the great reductions that has lately taken place in the dockyard that a licence was not required.
