The "Queen's Hotel" depicts the head of a famous Queen, but not a British one — the legendary Cleopatra. The hotel was built on the site of the old Turnpike Gate and Cottage on the Canterbury Road in 1901, perhaps to commemorate the recent passing of Queen Victoria, it unfortunately closed in 1990 and is now (2016) used as a health centre.
