The railway came to this area in 1861 when the station was officially opened, and with it I believe the "Railway Inn," which open a year later in 1862, although I do have reference to George Siddall being there in the 1861 census. The building having been dated back to 1662.

From the Kent and Sussex Courier, Friday 10 April 1885.

Cobham. Suicide.

Mr. W. J. Harris, coroner, held an inquest at the "Railway Inn," Cobham, on Saturday, touching the death of Thomas Simpson, a farm labourer, age 62. Deceased was said to have been very low spirited in consequence of having been out of work a good deal. A verdict of suicide during temporary insanity was returned.
