Old Perry Street Chislehurst 020 8467 3025 https://www.whatpub.com/sydney-arms
The address today is known as Old Perry Street, the Old not always being there. The pub as we know it today was named after John Robert Townsend, Lord Sydney who was one of the lords of the manor. Previous to this name the premises was known as the "Swan," or perhaps the "White Swan." As yet I don't know when the name changed but it must have been previous to 1862. From 1875 to 1900 there was a school for local children opposite the pub, established by Lady Emily Sydney, the buildings are still there but the site today (2018) is now part of a timber yard.
