With thanks from Brian Curtis www.innsignsociety.com.

From an email received 8 September, 2016.

The sign was originally designed and painted by myself sometime in the early 80's; the version you have pictured is an over paint done by an artist unknown to me and is less detailed than the original with some colour changes. I do have some photos of the original but they are with my brother back in the UK (I now live in Portugal).

I painted the sign whilst working for Victor Charlton of Charlton Signs, an award winning sign writer based in Strood Kent, who passed away some years ago.

I have been informed by Dave Small from Carmel, Indiana, USA that he purchased the above pub sign from a monthly outdoor antiques market in Ann Arbor, Mchigan, USA in the summer of 2000, and it now hangs on his wall.

This was actually one of Dartford's newest pubs, opened in 1964. Its bars were named after three famous old Dartford pubs that had closed; the "Three Tuns," the "Prince of Orange" and the "One Bell."

This pub unfortunately closed at the end of 2009 and has now been converted into yet another damn Tesco Express.
