Operating between 1826 and at least 1938 the pub is now closed (2017) and the building demolished, but as yet I do not know when.

The address has also been number 10 Grove Street and Lower Road.

DEPTFORD. Manslaughter.

An inquest was held on the 21st inst. before Mr. Carttar, at the "Britannia" public-house, Grove-street-hill, Deptford, on the body of Louisa, Oliver, aged 49, who died from injuries received by a large shell from the mantel-piece being thrown at her head by Thomas Shirtliff, with whom the -deceased had been living as his wife, at 5, Grove-street-hill. The jury returned a verdict of "manslaughter" against Thomas Shirtliff, who has since been bound over in £80, and two sureties of each, to appear at the Old Bailey sessions to answer the charge.
