The Street St Nicholas at Wade
The "Bell" has been used for the sale of beer since before 1715. It was then owned by the Bridges family, and known as the "Hare and Hounds" alehouse, but it was leased to Francis Cobb, brewer of Margate, in 1764 at a rental of £7 per annum. Cobb purchased the inn outright in 1798. This pub may well be the same "Hare and Hounds" that I also have listed at Sarre, the two villages only being a mile apart.
