Built in 1840 by the first licensee, Daniel Tomkins, who also built further houses between 1 and 5 Market Place, the pub was demolished in 1987 to make way for the new TSB bank.

I also have reference to another "King's Head" address in the High Street.

From the Kentish Gazette, 27 September 1842.

On Saturday evening an inquest was held at Bexley, by Mr. Carttar, the Coroner for Kent, at the "King’s Head Inn," on view of the body of Mr. John Vernon, of Bond-street, London, army-clothier.

It appeared by the evidence that the unfortunate gentleman was riding down on a visit to a lady in the neighbourhood, on Wednesday afternoon, when his horse ran away with him, and ran into Bexley fair where it came in contact with a four-wheeled chaise, and he was afterwards thrown off his horse, and pitched on his head, whereby his skull was dreadfully fractured.

Messrs. Guthrie, Coucher, and other eminent surgeons were sent for from London, and they rendered all the assistance skill and experience suggested, but without avail, and the unfortunate gentleman died the next day.

The jury returned a verdict of "Accidental Death.
