View of Thames 1872

Above painting 1872, said to have been taken from the pub.

The only reference I have found so far for this pub is in the Pigot's Directory of 1832. However, further information has found a painting of the Thames supposedly taken from the pub in 1782. The descriptive title being:- View from the "Lord Ligonier's Head" in Fisher's Lane, Greenwich and includes several sailing ships, other vessels, and three windmills on the river bank. The original painting is housed in the Hounslow Library from the Layton Collection.

The "Lord Ligonier's Head" is one of several listed for purchase and demolition in the 1845 in an Parliamentary Act to widen Fisher Lane enable the Commissioners of widen and improve Fisher Lane.

From The Statutes of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, 7 George IV. 1845.

A House and Premises known as “The Lord Ligonier's Head” Public House on the North Side of Fisher Lane.

Occupier Richard R Roberts.

Lessees or reputed Lessees. Edward Thomas Phillips.

Occupiers. Edward Thomas Phillips.

Lord Ligonier was a Field Marshall who lived 1702-1770. So the pub is unlikely to have been called Ligonier before 1770.

As the information is found or sent to me, including photographs, it will be shown here.

Thanks for your co-operation.
