Now part of Greater London, this area was indeed Kent before 1965. Hence, I will be adding information regarding this pub as and when I find or it is sent to me, but at present I'll be concentrating on the areas that are within the Kent boundary today.

Your help is appreciated, and every email is answered.

Kentish Mercury, Friday 1 May 1885.

George Ward, 21, of 6, Griffin Street, Deptford, barman was charged on remand with stealing two bottles of whiskey from the bar of the "Prince of Orange" public house, Greenwich Road, value 7s.; also with stealing a black coat, value 5s., the property of Joseph Parsons, groom at the "Prince of Orange" stables.

It was proved that prisoner was seen in the stable blacking his boots. He had no business there. After he had left the coat was missed, and a broken bottle of whiskey missed.

The prisoner said he was innocent.

Sergeant Francis said the prisoner at one time was barman at the Deptford public house, but left that and got into bad company, since which he had been convicted of uttering counterfeit coin.

The prisoner said that was so, but since he had been out of prison he had given up his bad companions, and had been to sea.

Mr. Balguy again remanded him.
