Market Place Faversham
Michael David Mirams in his 1987 book "Kent Inns and Inn Signs" mentions a "Queen's Arms" in Market Place and says the following:- One of Faversham's ancient inns, closed long ago, was the Queen's Arms in the Market Place. To that house the wretched King James II was taken in December 1688, after his flight from London to the Continent was interrupted by some unruly town fishermen. James never forgot the inn or his captors, for years later in exile, his promise of a general pardon to his erstwhile enemies, should he ever regain the throne, did not extend to the fishermen of Faversham.
