The Kentish Mercury says it was a beer house under consideration for closure due to redundancy in 1908.

It is suggested the pub closed around 1911 and in 2007 it was being used as part of a Cost Cutter store and in 2023 the Deptford Food Centre.

The High Street was known as Butt Lane until 1825.
