What Pub suggests that this used to be called the "So Ho" but to date I
have seen no reference to it being called that. Local knowledge required.
As the information is found or sent to me, including photographs, it will
be shown here.
Thanks for your co-operation.
From a book titled Quaint Signs of Olde Inns, by G. J. Monson-Fitzjohn,
B.Sc. 1926.
OLD SEE HO. Shone Ridgeway, Kent.
The sign was a greyhound in a slip held by a man in a farmer's smock
with the words "See Ho!" underneath, which term is another form of the
sportsman's "So Ho." Incidentally, this is the origin, hard as it is to
believe now, of Soho in London.

Fire at the See-Ho, Pear Tree Lane, Shorne
A small fire broke out at a popular pub overnight.
Firefighters were called to the "See-Ho," in Pear Tree Lane, Shorne,
near Gravesend, just after 12.30am today.
The fire was thankfully small, contained to private accommodation and
has not affected opening. It is due to open at midday as usual.
Crews, wearing breathing apparatus, discovered a small fire on the
stairs. They put it out and cleared smoke from the property with a
strong fan.
They then checked the fire was fully out using a thermal imaging
camera.
The pub's occupants had been alerted by an automatic fire alarm and
had managed to get out by the time crews arrived.
They were given oxygen therapy after breathing in smoke.
The fire is believed to have been caused by heat from some laundry
that had been recently tumble dried.
Fire crews left just before 1.30am.

From an email sent 14 July 2020 Hi, I have a small trophy with the
inscription SBCHC, W J STANLEY, 1926-1927, See-Ho.
Underneath the cup there are markings including the number 4443, I
understood my relatives Mr and Mrs Stanley ran this pub.
Many thanks,
Christine Clavey.
