What Pub suggests that this used to be called the "So Ho" but to date I have seen no reference to it being called that. Local knowledge required. Until 1930, the See-Ho had been a tied house within the estate of Russell's Gravesend brewery, until this company was acquired by Truman, Hanbury & Buxton's Black Eagle Brewery, London E1. Curiously, in the list of Russell's tied house, the See-Ho is referred to as the Old Sea-Ho, which might suggest a nautical link to the pub's name. Truman, Hanbury & Buxton lost very little timing in rebranding the former Russell's pubs and it's likely that this image appeared on publicity cards, quite soon after the takeover, advertising the See-Ho in its shiny new Truman's livery.
