PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

Earliest 1832-

(Name from)

Tower Inn

Latest 1881+

(Name to)

High Street

Bexley

Identified as early as 1832 and till at least 1881, although the licensee in 1881 was only described as a wine and spirit retailer, so the premises may have been operating as an off-license.

The first train pulled into Bexley station on 1st September 1866, but the pub didn't have the name the "Railway Tavern" till after 1881. I believe the pub was called the "Tower Inn and Railway Tavern" till the Tower bit was finally dropped.
