Originally known as the "Druid's Arms" and listed in 1843, the pub is known as this name till 1879. In 1888 it was known as the "Brewery Tap," and was part of the Fort Brewery and stayed with this name till 1922 when it changed to the "Jolly Drayman."

The "Fort Brewery Tap" is now all that remains of the brewery.
