Maidstone Journal and Kentish Advertiser, Monday 24 April 1865.

Transfer of Licence.

An application was made by Mr. David Mardell for permission to sell at the "Brunswick Arms" (Gravesend) until the licence can be transferred from Thomas Frost next transfer day.

Granted.

From the Southeastern Gazette, 23 January 1866.

Robbery from the Person.

At the Police Court on Wednesday, Mary Jane Brown was charged with stealing the sum of 4 ½d. and a handkerchief from the person of Sarah Clifford, a married woman. Prosecutrix stated that on Monday night, at half-past twelve o’clock, she went to the “Brunswick Arms” to pay a debt of 4 ½d. Mrs. Brown, mother of prisoner, then addressed some words to her in an offensive way, of which she took no notice, and immediately afterwards the handkerchief was observed in prisoner’s possession and the 4 ½d. was gone; some fighting and scratching of complainant’s face, by prisoner's mother, then took place. Prisoner, who had appeared before the bench on eleven previous occasions, was committed for fourteen days. Her mother, Adelaide Brown, was committed for seven days, in default of paying a fine of 2s. 6d. and costs, for assaulting and abusing Ann Abbott, servant at the “Brunswick Arms.”
