The Census of 1881 shows the building, but does not mention it as being a public house. There was a gentleman called George Munson living there age 29 who the head of the house and a Gent Labourer. Further research shows the building to be there in the 1871 Census and it wasn't listed as a pub then.
This pub was originally based at 12 Albert Road and was established before 1861. In the 20th century it had a distinctive art nouveau exterior. In 2006 the landlord (Eddie Muscat) was a boxing referee and the pub was decorated with an impressive display of boxing memorabilia. It closed in 2007 and was later demolished for development.
