Three Daws

Above photo kindly sent by Jason Kemsley and Tom Baines. The "Three Daws" is the building on the centre-left.

Civil Defence exercise at the bottom of the High Street. Firemen use ladders to gain access to the derelict restaurant, formerly the Castle pub, which was later demolished in readiness for the widening and realignment of West Street. Note that the street sign on the building shows that it was called East Street then.

The "Pier" is shown on the right and the "Three Daws" on the left.

Previously the "Pied Bull" and changed name in 1662. The premises has unfortunately been demolished.
