PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

Earliest 1832-

Latest 1841+

Week Street

Maidstone

Only reference to this pub somewhere in Week Street is the licensee an Oliver Sexby Davis in 1832.

The 1841 census give a publican called Oliver Davis at a pub in the High Street. I am assuming this is the same person and the same location.

From the Kent Herald, 21 February 1833.

Maidstone. Swindling.

Some time ago, a person named Haddock and his wife, came to the "Coopers Arms" public house, in this town, and lodged there, saying that they had property coming to them from Sir Edward Knatchbull which of course turned out to be false. They remained there about 12 weeks, and on Monday the 11th inst. decamped, having taken some property from the house, which was afterwards discovered and a pawnbrokers in this town. The parties were seen at Rochester but since that nothing has been heard of them.
