Crown pewter mug 1720

Above pewter mug circa 1720. The above mug is engraved H. How, Crwon Inn, Maidstone.

 

Said to have been situated in the High Street, on the Undercliff near to the Archbishops Palace and mentioned in 1610 as being the lower end, south side.

The building was demolished in 1787 and its tankards ended up in the nearby "Foresters Arms" in Knightrider Street.
