There have been two houses with this name in the area, and the license of
the original was transferred to the new one in 1870.
Maidstone Journal and Kentish Advertiser, 03 September 1870.
Annual licensing.
Mr T. F. Simpson applied on behalf of Mr. Albert Henry Hayes for a
licence to a house on the road between Bound's Corner and Penshurst town
to the village of Bidborough. The applicant was in possession of the
"Hare and Hounds" beer shop close by this newly erected house, but it
was not so well adapted for the purpose as the new one, nor so well
situated for the purpose of trade as the new house was, at the corner of
the roads, so as to make the traffic of both - though further a little
from the village, but better for the accommodation of the public. The
Bench granted the application, on the understanding that no application
will be made for a renewal of the beer certificate to the old "Hare and
Hounds." |
