The following information has been taken from http://www.cliffehistory.co.uk/pubs.html

Previously called the "Compasses" in 1888 Joseph Smith became the licensee of what now was known as The "Iron Compasses" public house.

The final licensee was a Mr. George Johnson who ran the pub for the next twenty-four years until its final closure on 10th February 1920.

Project 2014 has been started to try and identify all the pubs that are and have ever been open in Kent. I have just added this pub to that list but your help is definitely needed regarding it's history.

As the information is found or sent to me, including photographs, it will be shown here.

Thanks for your co-operation.
