One time a Mason's tied house, but the brewery was bought out by Shepherd Neame in 1956 and the brewery was subsequently closed and demolished.

Ann Hinton, servant at Mr. Newey’s, the "Prince Albert," was charged with robbing her master of one 4d. and one 3d, piece. Prosecutor, believing this to be the first offence, declined to prosecute the charge, and she was ordered to be delivered to her friends.
