The pub is also known as "Rose's." This can be traced back to 1840 when it was a beer shop connected to the brewery that used to sit behind the building. In 1888 it was bought by E J Rose and Co., who rebuilt it in 1928, hence the name of "Rose's."

Coroner’s Inquest.

On Wednesday last, an inquest was held at the "Prince Albert Inn," Woolwich, before C. J. Carttar, Esq., coroner, on view of the body of a child eight months old, named John Ablewhite. It appeared from the evidence that the deceased died suddenly in a fit, and the jury returned a verdict of death from natural causes.
