PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

Earliest 1812

(Name from)

Prince Regent

Latest 1832+

(Name to)

37 East Street

Gravesend

The pub can be traced back as far as 1570 till 1730 as the "Dolphin" but changed name between 1730 and 1734 to the "City of London." It remained under that name till 1778 when it changed to the "Queen's Head." It changed names again between 1811 and 1812, this time to become the "Prince Regent." It is known under that name till 1832 when the executors of Robert Sparkes were brought in as license holders, but by 1880 it was again known as the "Dolphin" and eventually closed in 1909.

Project 2014 has been started to try and identify all the pubs that are and have ever been open in Kent. I have just started to map out the pubs that exist or existed in Gravesend, but need local knowledge and photographs, old and current if you have any.

As the information is found or sent to me, including photographs, it will be shown here.

Thanks for your co-operation. Every email is answered and all information referenced to the supplier.

This page will be updated as soon as further information is found.
