The following information has been sent to me from Alexandria Gilbert.

An indenture dated the 31 October 1864 stated a John Taddy Friend leases land to Frederick Snelling, builder of Birchington who builds the property shortly afterwards. Another indenture dated the 6th of February 1865 shows the lease of the building to William Donne of Sandwich, assumed to be an Hotel keeper. The premises is then named the "Railway Hotel and Tavern."

Barry J White also suggests it became the "Seaview Hotel," and changed name some time between 1874 and 1882. Further research proved it was indeed operating as the "Seaview Hotel" in 1874.
