Sevenoaks is set to lose the iconic Riverhead Harvester.
The owners are planning a shake up.
The Harvester on Amherst Hill in Sevenoaks is set to be closed and
rebranded as a steak restaurant.
It's been an established focal point for food and celebrations for
decades but the Riverhead Harvester is set to close.
Its Owner Mitchells and Butlers has submitted plans to take the
London Road restaurant "upmarket" by reopening it as a Miller and
Carter Steakhouse.
In a planning application to Sevenoaks District Council, the company
outlines extensive refurbishment of the landmark building - once The
Riverhead Public House - including the installation of a large bull
statue.
This illuminated "iconic piece of art work", the company says, would
add "an interesting feature on the street frontage".
The plans say that the refurbishment will "change the nature of the
business to a more upmarket premium restaurant".
Bosses also want to build an external cold room and replace old
timber posts and concrete bollards with new fencing.
There are more than 80 Miller and Carter Steakhouses across the UK,
the closest in Pickhurst Lane Bromley.
Although the chain claims to be "obsessed" with steaks it also
serves salads, seafood and world cuisine.
Mitchells and Butlers has been contacted for comment. |
