The census of 1851 mentioned the "Anchor and Hope" but didn't list a publican. It did, however, infer that three houses next to each other were called by the name above.

I am informed that the pub unfortunately closed in March 2025 after the licensee sadly died after a short illness. His brother owns and runs the "Bull" and the "Red Lion" on Shooters Hill, and his late father ran the "Anchor and Hope" before him, someone has said that they relinquished the lease back to the brewery.
