I am informed that the pub closed in 2000.

 

Project 2014 has been started to try and identify all the pubs that are and have ever been open in Kent. I have just added this pub to that list but your help is definitely needed regarding it's history.

A Female Burnt to Death.

On Thursday last, an inquest was held at the "Duke of Wellington," East Greenwich, on the body of Hannah Elizabeth Kemberley, aged 42, of Northumberland-street, East Greenwich. From the evidence it appeared the deceased had first fallen and set fire to her cap which communicated to other parts of her dress and ending in a most frightful death.

Verdict accidental death.
