The 1871 census gives the address as being Oliver Street. The Licensing Directory of 1872 says Henry Street. It also said the premises was operating under a Beer license and was owned by George Raymond.

Ind Coope & Co Ltd purchased the pub identified as a beer house from Budden & Biggs Brewery Ltd by conveyance and assignment dated 23 March 1931.
