Also listed as being at Gibraltar Terrace.

The Licensing Records of 1872 stated the premises was operating under a Beer License and was owned by James Law Cuthbertson of new Road, Rochester.

I am informed that up to at least 1970 this was a beer house only.

Closed some time in the mid 1990s and now (2017) operating as an Indian restaurant.

From an email received, 19 April, 2017.

The "Good Intent," New Road, Chatham. This pub had been run by Tony Flannery, when upon his demise, his wife took over the licence. Due to various licence infringements, it closed and (I cannot remember the dates - probably 86/87 and now living in Thailand, paperwork is no longer at hand), after a very lengthy period of closure, at the request of Courage's, I applied for a licence. The Police did not want it re-opened, but I successfully fought off objections and after much remedial work got it up and running. Unfortunately, after two failed managers, I was forced to surrender the tenancy.

I was succeeded by an Irishman (name forgotten), who had been running a pub in Hoxton Market. It did not last long, closed again and is now an Indian restaurant.
