The Licensing Records of 1872 sated the premises was operating Beer License and was owned by George Clempts of 41 Skinner Street, Chatham.

 

Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

Infringement of licences.

George Clements, landlord of the "Good Intent" beerhouse, Chatham, was charged with having sold beer at prohibited hours on Sunday, 30th of March.

Mr. Hayward appeared for defendant, and pleaded guilty, and a fine of £1 was inflicted, with 9s. costs.

Friday. Before the Rev. J. Formby, and Captain Savage.

George Clement, landlord of the "Good Intent" beerhouse, and Henry Watson, landlord of the "Victory" beer house, Chatham, were charged by Police Sergeant Fisher with keeping their houses open and serving customers during the hours of divine service on Sunday, the 30th.

The first defendant, who had been previously convicted of a similar offence, and upon whose behalf Mr. Hayward now appeared, was fined £1, and 9s.; and the other defendants, whose house bore the character of being well conducted, was find 10s. and 10 s. costs.
