Whitstable Magistrates Miss Licensing Meeting.
CAR SKIDS OFF ROAD INTO FIELD.
A skid on the slippery road near the "Hare and Hounds" on Monday prevented
two Whitstable J.Ps., Mr. Arthur Collar and Mr. F. S. Gann, from taking
their place on the Bench at St. Augustine's annual licensing meeting held at
Canterbury that morning.
The car in which they were travelling skidded sideways while descending the
hill towards Blean bottom and crashed through a hedge into a field adjoining
the road before coming to rest.
Fortunately, neither Mr. Collar nor Mr. Gann was injured and the car was
almost undamaged.
With the help of men from a nearby farm the car was soon back on the road
but the incident delayed the magistrates to such an extent that they were
unable to reach Canterbury in time for the meeting.
