The Licensing Records of 1872 stated that the premises held a Beer Licence and was owned by Phoebe Essenhill of Ramsgate.

I am informed that the building was destroyed by a fire in early December 1901. Further details hopefully to follow.

On Tuesday morning the "Lord Brougham" a beer house at Chatham, in Union Street, belong to Messrs. Leney and Son, was burnt down. The fire originated through a lamp exploding in the bar. Two fireman were nearly engulfed in the building when it fell.

Public house destroyed by fire.

The "Lord Brougham" public house, High Street, Chatham, was destroyed by fire on Tuesday morning. The fireman had just escaped from the roof when the walls collapse, smashing in two houses on the opposite side of the street.

Chatham. Fireman's narrow escape.

The "Lord Brougham" public house situated in High Street Chatham, was destroyed by fire on Tuesday morning. Two fireman were working on the roof when it showed signs of falling. Within a minute after they had moved from their perilous position the roof and walls collapsed, the front smashing in two houses on the opposite side of the street.
