Biddenden Road High Halden
The sign in 1987 of the "Man of Kent" is a Saxon, one of those seen on the Bayeux Tapestry, who fought and died with King Harold at Hastings. In the early seventies there was a vending machine outside which issued 'gentles', that is maggots, for local coarse fishing which is mainly on ponds. The pub changed name to the "Raja of Kent" and became an Indian restaurant some time after 1988.
I have just added this pub to that list but your help is definitely needed regarding it's history. As the information is found or sent to me, including photographs, it will be shown here. Thanks for your co-operation.
