The building was designed by the celebrated architect George E Bond, he also designed the Chatham Town Hall and the Theatre Royal. However the plans appeared to have been drawn and approved in 1923, yet G E Bond died in 1914.
Bond's assistant, Frank T Goring is listed as the other architect.
